If you are like us, you are receiving Graduation Announcements daily. I lost track of the number of custom graduation announcements we were blessed to design for our Seniors this year but the above image shows a few of our custom designs that arrived just last week. Yes, the UPS and FedEx workers are delivering our orders daily.
With so many invitations arriving, what are you going to gift the graduate? We have some fun ideas!

Gift cards are always a hit. I know our girls enjoyed using gift cards to buy gas, go out to eat, buy dorm essentials, and more during their first semester of college. Such an easy thing to purchase but such a blessing to our graduates.

When planning your favorite Grad's party, don't forget the games. If the thought of having to think about what high school seniors would enjoy at your party makes your head swim, no worries, we have a few ideas!
Our party started with a photo shoot. Shocked?! Ha! If this thought makes you stressed, call your favorite photographer and see if they are available for a fun cap and gown mini session for your graduate and their friends. While we were taking pictures, the grands were finishing up party preparations.
And then my parents put together an awesome Car Rally. Car Rally's are such a blast! It's a scavenger hunt but in 3-D. Teams have to drive the speed limit, follow directions for a route, and pick up things by figuring out clues along the way. They are super fun and we had many giggles watching our soon-to-be graduates try to figure out how to win.
And they did! Our Hannah and her team totally won...and it wasn't rigged!
We had hamburgers will all of the fixings, chips, dip, soft drinks, and my favorite part~smore's!
We found the large s'more roasting skewers from amazon here and they were perfect!
Hopefully you now have a theme for your Graduation Party. No? Check out our previous post. Now, it's time to plan the food. I'm a fan of layers. I love seven layer dip, seven layer salad, and seven layer bars. Yum!!! Grad food bites can be elaborate or as easy as a popcorn bar with lots of goodies. Yes!! One of our favorite bites at our baby girl's graduation party was a s'more bar. I'm always a fan of those. Childhood nostalgia mixed with chocolate is always a win!!

"We're gonna party like it's 1999...." Oh, sorry! I keep singing that song in my head. This time last year was crazy town with a capital C. Our baby was getting ready to graduate and while my heart seemed torn in a million pieces at the thought that she was really old enough to graduate from high school (wasn't kindergarten just yesterday?), we had parties to plan. Yes, you read that correctly...she had a few parties. And we had a blast planning and preparing for them.
My thoughts are with all of you moms and grands planning parties for your favorite graduates this year. I'll be sharing a few Grad Party Ideas this week just for you in hopes that it helps you give the best graduation party ever!
Let's begin with decorations, shall we? Every party needs a theme and a theme is always a fabulous place to begin planning a party!

The one party decoration that I wanted to do and didn't is this last one! Blueberrysprinkles has made it so easy for you....all you have to do is add your pictures. And we know you have the pictures because you have had to pull your favorite five or six for their Graduation Slideshow at school. My tears are ready to spill over remembering how wonderfully difficult it was to only choose five or six. So many memories that happened much too quickly.

I met Lauren a few years ago when we photographed her sister's VIP Senior Session. While I cannot believe how quickly time flies, it seems like we just photographed Chelsey, I was thrilled to see her message requesting her very own Senior VIP Session.
Thankfully, we were able to come up with a date for her very own session. I love the outfits that she chose and her sweet spirit and willingness to try anything. I think the results are quite stunning...but any image of Lauren would be stunning. Don't you agree? We even received national recognition for this image:

While we were in California for marketing and Model Sessions with the fabulous Teri Fode and nine other incredible photographers from all over the U.S.A., I received an email from Sydney's mom asking if we could find time to photograph her daughter.
Thankfully, we found the perfect date, just in time, for Sydney's Senior VIP Session. Sydney is the Captain of the Varsity Cheerleaders, she was the Catoico Queen, (we were blessed to photograph many of the gorgeous girls in court this year too. Delight!) and has participated in dance since she was in kindergarten. With so many accomplishments we had a difficult time narrowing down outfit choices. But, I love the outcome:

We LOVE our seniors and their parents. It really is a joy getting to know them before their Senior VIP Session, after, and keeping in touch throughout their senior year. We are seriously blessed with the most incredible clients who often become friends. I love that!
Last week as many moms and seniors picked up their custom Graduation Announcements from the Studio, so many mentioned they had no idea what they would be wearing to Graduation. I remember that same exact feeling last year. Whether your school has strict guidelines, our local high school certainly does, or not, here are some looks we had fun putting together.

A few months ago I received an exciting message that I had been chosen as one of 50 photographers across the United States to take part in Beauty Revived 50 Most Beautiful Moms Campaign!! Mother's Day is Sunday. Are you ready? Need some ideas? I put together a few just for you...and your mom, of course!
Breakfast in bed perhaps? Not just cereal put in the "good" china. I'm talking about a real breakfast....or better yet, brunch! She will love it. And if you aren't the best chef, pick up some things at your local H.E.B. or Marketstreet, arrange it on a pretty plate, add her favorite morning drink, maybe a flower or two, an you are all set. But, don't forget to clean up the kitchen!
Feeling a bit more adventurous? How about picking out a special outfit for mom? Or better yet, take her shopping! I'm loving the nautical trend and this outfit just says summer fun to me!
Does you mom enjoy gardening? I know my mom does. Aren't those little birdies so cute? Or maybe some new hand tools for the garden? I absolutely love the smell of rosemary. I use fresh Rosemary when I make the Pioneer Woman's crash hot potatoes.
While all of these ideas are pretty fun and special. The one thing your mom would love most in this world, besides you spending time with her, would be the gift of treasured memories! Honestly Bryson's Aunt and Mimi were the ones pushing for a super creative senior session. Bryson? He wasn't so sure. But after a few shots? He was having a blast too! In fact, after his Senior VIP Session, and his ordering session, I received the sweetest text from his aunt. She texted, "Mr. "I Don't Want to Take Pictures," took his pictures to school to show everyone! LOL. Again, thank you! They came out awesome!" And it totally made my day!

Denim is everywhere and we are LOVING this trend. Are you? Denim is so easy and fun to style. Add a string of pearls for a classic look, a patterned skirt for a little drama, a pop of color with shorts and espadrilles or maybe heals if you prefer....the possibilities are endless. Adding style to your sessions is something we love to do and we are always happy to help.
Spring is finally in the air! I've pushed my winter clothes to the back of my closet. It's time, isn't it?! After wearing lots of jewel tones and a lot of black, I love to wear black year around, it's time for a little spring in my wardrobe. Pantone's Colors of the year are Rose Quartz and Serenity. Think beautiful pink sunsets dipping in to the gorgeous ocean water. So beautiful!
Combine Pantone's Colors of the Year with the denim craze and you have yourself a pretty stellar combination! I cannot wait to see how the seniors I am blessed to photograph this spring incorporate this trend in to their Senior VIP Sessions. I think it's pretty fabulous!
