First Birthday sessions are always so much fun and so unique! I love to try to make a set based on the first birthday party theme. This little guy's theme was mustaches. So cute!! I had a blast putting this set together. His grandmother made his mustache cake and he LOVED it!

What a blessing to photograph this beautiful family! I have known the mom and dad since they were kids....oh that makes me feel old! And now they have children of their own that I have been so blessed to photograph through out the years. They are a beautiful family inside and out! I cannot wait to show them all of their images!

Words cannot describe what a monumental task removing our gargantuan palm tree has been! It's been painful!!! Painful to watch on my end because my dad, mom, and my man have worked tirelessly to take out, "the beast," before it lifts the roof off of our house and wrecks the brick lined flower beds....and I've simply watched in between teaching classes and photo sessions. And been amazed!We are thinking this tree weighed 800 pounds or more! When we built our house and landscaped, this tiny palm tree was only supposed to be 4 feet tall. 4 feet!!! I think it topped well over 20. My parents are suppose to be enjoying retirement but instead they are like David taking down the goliath of a palm tree! I am amazed at their perserverance and sheer determination to take it down.
Yes, I enjoyed the palm tree. If you have been a follower of my blog for long, you know that I absolutely love anything tropical and would certainly love to live on a beach somewhere. But, I also like my flower beds and the roof over my home. The palm tree simply had to go. There was no way to save it. Although, my dad planted the top of it in the backyard, far, far away from the house. Who knows? It may be like a pineapple and grow again. Want to see some pictures?
Dad and Mom carefully removed all of the palm branches. They were huge branches!
And then Dad carefully cut a notch out of the tree:
His planning was perfection! It landed exactly where he hoped...and the best part? No one was hurt in the process!
To give you a point of reference as to how massive this palm tree is, my dad is 6'2" tall!

Friday was a whirlwind of missing earrings, hair that wouldn't curl, and ripped panty hose. After a quick reminder to our baby girl via text that, "Greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world," and a quick stop to buy more panty hose for the stage, it was time to watch their regional performance. Each one of their cast and crew did a stellar job. In the end, they did not advance to state but we couldn't be more proud of them! And honestly, if blatant Freud-like-lewd behavior on stage is what it takes to advance to the state level, then we will be more than satisfied with the regional level every single time!
While each one of our students deserved to be recognized, they chose one of Hannah's friends as Honorable Mention, and our baby girl as All Star Cast. What an honor!!! We are so very proud of you, sweet baby girl!

Today is the One Act Play Regional competition!! We are all so proud of our students and excited about the day!!!

I am so thankful we found an evening where the wind wasn't coming, "Howling down the plains." Can you name that song? It's been terribly windy in our part of Texas. Our dry and thirsty land is crying out for showers of blessings. We carefully planned their session three different times and the winds prevailed. Thankfully, the third time was a charm! I'm thankful he left their beautiful wheat field uncut until after their session. A beautiful family in a beautiful field surrounded by beautiful light. What a blessing to photograph!

Oh these Super Hero Sessions were so much fun!!! I loved every second of these sessions. Fun, fun!!!

This sweet little guy came to the studio with his mommy and daddy for his four month session. Bless his heart, he was battling strep throat and not quite feeling well and the wind was a blowing. Somehow, we managed to capture some of the sweetest images of this adorable family.

You saw a few pictures of this SHS Senior last week. What an incredible session! I've known Levi since he was a second grader. What a joy and privilege to watch him grow up. It looks like he will be the class Valedictorian and we couldn't be more proud. With his great love of golf, we couldn't think of a better place to start his senior session.
I thought it would be fun to capture a silhouette in the west Texas sunset and add a little artistic flair too:
He really wanted action shots only, but with all of his golf medals and the cool scene behind him, I'm glad he paused for a brief moment for this image:
We managed to grab a few pictures in our field too. Love the hat...it's "so, Levi!"
I told him that his Raybans reminded me of the movie, "Top Gun!" He acted like he knew the movie and that made me feel less old. Ha!
He has been honored with Best Actor and All Star Cast more times than we can possibly count. With his suit and his trophies, we hit the stage!
And then it was time to capture some images with his car. He has the coolest car and his suit was a perfect match!

There is just something about a Sunset in our part of west Texas! I love it when God paints the sky in brilliant colors of yellows, reds, and oranges. He is the Master Painter after all. Lately, there is something so cool about capturing an iconic pumpjack so common in our area these days. I was coming home from a photo shoot last week and looked over just in time to capture this. I love it when God delights His children!!!

What a fun Senior session this was! I know I am in for a treat when I arrived at the destination to find a golf cart waiting for me. Delight! I was so excited when I saw this image on the back of my camera. Look at how the ball is following the sand. So cool!!!
And one more for good measure. If you are in our area, you know this golfer just by seeing his colorful pants.

What a joy to photograph three generations together! It was one of the windiest days, I seem to be saying that a lot lately, but we managed to find a little bit of wind break. We adore this family and it was a joy to capture their love for each other.
These two kept us hopping. I love their energy and their sweet giggles!

This is the entire cast and crew after learning that they advanced to Regionals. Yay!!! Remember, several are dressed up because Prom was also that night.

If you follow our photography facebook page, you may have already seen most of these images. I'll say it again, I cannot believe our baby girl and her friends enjoyed their Junior/Senior Prom! Weren't they all just in Kindergarten yesterday?! Prom day was a super busy but super-blessed day! Just minutes before this image, Hannah and her fellow One Act Play Cast and Crew performed at Regionals, advanced to Area, and she was honored with All Star Cast. Whew!! In between their performance and the awards ceremony, we had a few minutes to change out of her costume and into her Prom gown.
While the Cast and Crew waited for their prom dates to arrive, we snapped a few fun images:

Our Junior Girls who have been friends and played basketball (or managed the team) together since Kindergarten (except for one who got here as soon as she could).
and just like that, they were off to Prom!
Mr. Incredible and I grabbed a quick bite to eat at Chick Filet and then changed out of our One Act Play tshirts in to our Prom outfits. You should have seen the looks on the Chick Filet patron's faces. Funny doesn't begin to describe it!
We arrived at Prom to find this:
Hannah and her friends had a blast. They ended the night at our neighbor's house who sweetly let them swim until 2 in the morning and even fixed them sausage and pancakes. It was a whirlwind kind of day, but we managed to capture memories to treasure....what a blessing!

I cannot believe Miss B is one! Seriously, yesterday we just did her newborn session with her giggly big sister and brother. Sigh! How quickly a year goes by.
Doesn't she look like a living Madame Alexander doll?! Gorgeous doesn't even begin to cover it!
Sweet Miss B sang songs to us, blew us kisses, and had us grinning from ear to ear. She is so precious!
I think she liked her cake but she was more interested in making us smile to bother with a little cake.
And then it was bath time! I think this was her favorite part of her session.
